The Bill of Rights and Our Second Amendment:
The Bill or rights was drafted by James Madison after worries that the people would not be fully protected by the constitution. The second of these amendments guarantees the right of the people to keep and bear arms. Those that fear an armed citizenry or those who want to have strict gun control often focus on the first part of the second ammendment “A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state…” This is followed by “the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” So what did the original framers mean when they wrote it? Lets look at a few quotes from them, its quite clear what they really meant.
“I ask, sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people, except for a few public officials.”
– George Mason“The best we can hope for concerning the people at large is that they be properly armed.”
– Alexander Hamilton, The Federalist Papers“What country can preserve its liberties if its rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms.”
– Thomas Jefferson“No Free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.”
– Thomas Jefferson“The people are not to be disarmed of their weapons. They are left in full possession of them.”
– Zacharia Johnson“That the said Constitution shall never be construed to authorize Congress to infringe the just liberty of the press or the rights of conscience; or to prevent the people of the United States who are peaceable citizens from keeping their own arms”
–- Samuel Adams“To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them.”
– Richard Henry Lee
Every law abiding citizen has the right to keep and bear arms. The citizens are to be armed for defense of their country, defense of themselves against crime and as a last resort to defend themselves against their own government should it turn to tyranny. The wording guarantees us the natural right of all people to be able to protect ourselves.
Gun Control:
Disarmed people are neither free nor safe – they become the criminals’ prey and the tyrants’ playthings. When the civilians are defenseless and their government goes bad, however, thousands and millions of innocents die. What disarms the citizens? The idea of “gun control.” It’s the idea that only the government has the right to possess firearms, and that citizens have no unalienable right to use force to defend against aggression.
What Happens when governments impose gun control on its citizens?
- Soviet Union (1929-1945) 20 Million Civilians Killed
- Nazi Germany (1933-1945) 20 Million Civilians Killed
- China (1927-1949) 30-45 Million Civilians Killed
- Guatemala (1960-1981) 100-200 thousand Civilians Killed
- Uganda (1971-1979) 300 thousand Civilians Killed
- Cambodia (1975-1979) 2 Million Civilians Killed
- Rwanda (1994-Present) 1 Million Civilians Killed and counting
How could governments kill so many people? The governments had the power – and the people, the victims, were unable to resist. The victims were unarmed.
Here’s the Formula: Hatred + Government + Disarmed Civilians = Genocide
